Marisse's Canadian friends No Kids played last night with Mirah. The metro bus card reader wasn't working, so we got a free ride, then we got in free to the show, then we got a free drink pass, then Marisse couldn't find her smartcard and got a free ride back on the bus. Who said city living was expensive? Now if we can just get into that celebrity free shoe store I keep hearing so much about.
I had never seen Mirah. She played here once at a house show when I was around, but (as per usual) no one told me about it until it had already past. Last night, she used the audience as a drum a couple of times, like Freddy Mercury used to, and invited sing alongs, like I used to when I was Bizmarkee. That's what the kids like, participation. Remember when Catharsis used to write songs that people from the audience who had never heard their music could jump in and play, or that show in Dallas so many years ago when Fugazi let that lady who knew every lyric to every of their songs get on stage and sing 'waiting room' all the way through'? Can you imagine what that must have meant to her?
No Kids were fun too. Two keyboards and a drummer. The singer is the guy with the glasses, the kids also like that. Check them out:

I got to see Bread and Puppet Theater last night. Pretty amazing what a few people can do with human sized puppets, a makeshift circus band, and some aioli.
I also got a chance to see the Rupayan Ensemble at the Freer Gallery Sunday. Though the setting was a bit odd, the high energy of the Rajasthani folk ensemble made for an enjoyable afternoon.

My sister was interviewed on G4 'Attack of the Show' yesterday and briefly referenced the comic we have been working on.
Here is the interview: Click to watch

Doesn't that kind of look like her.
