I went to see Universe play a couple of nights ago. They were really fun, and, of interest to comics readers, Nate Powell sings.
They still have these tour dates left, so if you are around, check them out:
Tue 11th: Albany NY @ Paul's House w/ Nuclear Family.
Wed 12th: Buffalo NY @ The Attic (1032 Elmwood) w/ Max Wiess + more.
Thur 13th: Columbus OH @ Monster House.
You can listen to their demo here: universe (myface page)

Another book I picked up at comicon (though I got one of the limited edition copies!) was Darwyn Cooke's adaptation of Richard Stark's 60's crime novel 'Parker: The Hunter'. The art is amazing, the story bleak. There is a preview here: The Hunter (preview)

One of my favorite things I picked up at comicon was the first issue of the relaunch of Creepy. The stories and art in here are great. Shawna Gore has been been doing amazing work editing the Creepy Archives Darkhorse has been releasing lately, and this is a nice relaunch that I think lives up to the legacy of the original. Darkhorse had relaunched Creepy before in 1991, but I think it only ran four issues. I'm told this is slated for four issues as well based on sales, so pick up a copy at your local comic store, or if they don't have it, you can get it here: Creepy at Darkhorse
