San Diego Comicon Signing, Thursday, July 23rd

Brea and I will be signing these 'zombies of 1920's wall street' posters by Ben Templesmith at San Diego Comicon, Thursday, July 23rd to promote the series we are doing with Kyle Strahm and IDW. For more info, check out news on IDW (scroll down to the bottom of the page): IDW comicon signing schedule

In the meantime, check out Kyle's amazing work over at his website: Kyle Strahm

And, check back here and at Brea's site for another semi-secret lo-fi project we are working on.

(Also, still blogging at popmatters 'graphically speaking' this week. Today's piece is on 'Walking Dead and Urban Space'. Also, Erik Hinton's review of Moomin Book Four is up)

That should keep you busy.

Black Sunday, aka The Mask of Satan

A little slow on the blogging here this week because I have been working on the popmatters comics July/August schedule. I feel lucky to get to work with so many writers with good ideas. I am doing the editors blog every day next week, so check back for my thoughts on Swamp Thing's sexual crimes against nature, Walking Dead's aversion to cities and social change, and thoughts on 'failed cities' in comics in general. Also editing on some articles and reviews, but in the mean time...

Benjamin Marra referenced this film the other day for the aesthetic of its executioners in the opening scene. It's great how Mario Bava has the mask come at the audience, and then we are all cursed by the power of Satan by looking at the camera... and the hammer. Barrel-chests were evidently a job requirement for executing before electricity.
