It's free comic book day, so please do stop by your favorite comics shop and receive free pictures with words. I got an early start at Desert Island and received a copy of 'Bird Hurdler'. Among others, Julia Gfrörer's piece was hilarious. It includes the words, "Oh shit. That warlock can see in the dark." Now, to Rocketship for a signing more free stuff!

I don't know what to say. First he moves Asgard to Oklahoma, now he is listening to his favorite Isengaard albums through headphones. Do something epic Thor! At least show your mightiness by blasting your favorite metal songs through a wall of speakers. Ipod headphones have no place in your formerly frostbitten kingdom cold. I know you need some downtime after all of the unliftable hammer swinging you did in issue #600, but I seriously hope Apple paid handsomely for this cover.
Thor with ipod #601 (released 4/23/09)

And what happened to Thor's old jam box from Avengers #120? How will he play all the mix tapes I sent him? (from Comics Make No Sense)

One time on soulseek, this guy messaged me saying he used to be in Amebix and had some new projects coming out and sent me a link to his new band's webpage. I wasn't sure I believed it was really him, but after just watching an interview from Amebix's mini-reunion tour it seems more likely than not that it was indeed 'Stig' from their banter about the importance of the internet. Evidently, before this form of mass communication they had no idea of their popularity in the U.S. that came about after the release of their last album 'Monolith' (1987). That only makes sense for 'The Baron', who as legend has it, became a black smith and moved to the 'Isle of Man'. Why the others wouldn't pick that up earlier is less obvious, but maybe it was the Baron who needed convincing. I mean playing in Amebix vs. forging swords with magical properties is a tough choice. Here is one of my favorites, 'Arise' from a corrupted tape of a show in 1986 in Slovenia and 'Axeman' from their last reunion show a few months ago.
Amebix. 'Arise'
Amebix. 'Axeman'
