Hos, Hookers, Call Girls, and Rent Boys: Professionals writing on Life, Love, Money, and Sex is a nice collection of writing by sex workers telling stories from their jobs and talking about the politics of work. A lot of the stories are comedic, some are sad, some angry, but somehow the editors fit them all together really well.

The characters in 'Everything Ravaged, Everything Burned' are pretty diverse. How can one book pair a story about vikings with one about a bankrupt venture capitalist living in the woods? The common link between all the characters in this book seems to be low self-esteem that is manifested in socially diverse ways. It appears as overconfidence and resentment, which would normally be really annoying to me, but somehow Wells makes it funny enough to entertain.

I've been reading pop psychology books lately. 'Bodies' came out last year and is a psychoanalyst's take on how we think about bodies today. She writes about the diet industry, dysmorphia, people who want to have their legs removed, second life avatars, etc. Thought provoking and brief, two of my favorite things.

We Will Bury You is also digital, and immediately available on Sony PSP. Brea and I did commentary for it, in which we reveal who came up with which disgusting parts.

Despite the blizzard, the WWBY release party was well-attended! It was great to see everyone, even though it was sad Brea and Kyle's flights were canceled. We almost called off the event because of the weather. We only bought a couple of six packs thinking no one would trudge through the grim winter for a comic book release, but I was really happy and surprised so many friends made it out! We ended up having to make quite a few more trips for beer, and there wasn't even a fight. Thanks to Desert Island and everyone who came out. It means a lot.
Here are some scandalous party pictures, starting with a party highlight, Oscar Lopez's statue of Mirah from WWBY:
